WordPress business is easy to run and the profit is big. You may be wondering it could cost a lot to start your own WordPress business.

Well, I’ll go through all the tools and services I use for PTHEME this site particularly.

Paid Tools/Services

NameCheap – This is where I registered the domain ptheme.com. I’ve used other domain registration providers as well but I moved a majority part of my portfolio to NameCheap because its overall experience. One thing I like is that they provide one year free WhoisGuard. COST: $10.69/year. You can get a valid coupon code here to save some penny.

Hostgator – I’ve used Hostgator shared hosting for years and never be upset with its performance. Their WordPress Hosting is starting from $5.95/month

Avada – The best ever selling WordPress theme in themeforest. First I just purchased this theme and used it on a test website because I was curious what made it so popular among WordPress community. Not long after giving it a try, I decided to implement it on the production site of ptheme.com. It’s a good decision so far especially when its version jumped to 4.x with so many improvements regarding speed and customization. Cost: $59.

Amember – It provides a one-stop membership management solution for selling digital products and downloads: accept subscription payments, manage customer profiles, deliver digital content, integrate with your blog, forum, or CMS, send opt-in newsletters, run your own affiliate program, support desk, etc. Cost: $180/year

Free Tools/Services

Contact Form 7 – This is what I use to get visitors’ inquires like pre-sales questions, customization requirements, product feedback yet.

Jetpack – A WordPress plugin I recommend everyone to install on their WordPress sites. There are modules with this plugin to suit your needs almost in every aspect, like Site Stats for visitor stats, Photon for speeding up images, Custom CSS, Sharing, Widget visibility, etc.

WP Super Cache – Very fast caching plugin for WordPress. An alternative plugin would be W3 Total Cache.

WP-Optimize – A simple plugin to keep your database clean by removing post revisions and spam in a blaze.

Yoast SEO – (aks WordPress SEO) The first true all-in-one SEO solution for WordPress, including on-page content analysis, XML sitemaps and much more.

As you see, total cost for this website is roughly $300/year, or less than $30 per month. I don’t think this is a big money if you want to start any business.

Anyway, there is still room to have some savings.

  • As of the eCommerce solution, Amember is not required. There are quite few free plugins there, and Woocommerce and Easy Digital Downloads are the most used ones. I’ve used them before and I was quite satisfied with them.
  • You can also use a free theme instead of Avada. Just take a look at the wordpress.org theme directory and you’ll find way too many themes which work perfect with Woocommerce or EDD.
  • Good if you say you can even use a much cheaper or even free hosting, which is what I don’t recommend though. Along with your traffic and business scales, you’d better turn to a trusted WordPress hosting provider.
